2019 Training Orientation

Welcome & Preparing for Your First Session

"Now begins the study of Yoga."
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali I.1

At the first meeting of each training group, we'll be doing an exercise meant to help you clarify and commit to your intention, your sankalpa, for undertaking this course of study.  
To prepare, please spend some time allowing yourself to be curious about your intention, using the questions below as suggestions to start your self-inquiry. There is no need to write out your answers unless that is helpful for you. Please use any method(s) you wish to help you reflect. 
What do I long for?
What am I ready to commit to?
What do I sense is ready to shift or change?
Is there anything I am ready to drop or shed?
What do I want my work in the world to look like? 

What is it I want to share with others?

If you have books at the end of the training that are in good condition, I can buy them back at a fair used price if I am going to use the text again. I am also always happy to take a book you'd like to donate to help build a library and defray the cost of books for future participants. 

Reading & Other Assignments

Check back as the start of your training  date gets closer, I will share the reading assignments & updated course outlines here. 

​If you are in the Yoga Therapy Training for MPHs and are eager to get started, reading Robert Sapolsky's Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers is a great place to start. 

Light on Life by BKS Iyengar is a great starting point if you are in the 200-hour YTT or the Foundations for Personal Growth course. 

Training Credits at Ease

If you are in a 100-hour training, we give you 20 class credits to use at Ease.
You receive 40 class credits if you are in a 200-hour training. 
You can begin to use your credits starting February 1, and any unused credits expire October 15.
You credits are not transferable, have no cash value, and are revokable at the discretion of the owners of Ease Mountain Yoga. 

The General Pace of Our Training Days

Our training days are designed to limit the amount of time spent lecturing & maximize the amount of time you spend experiencing and integrating what we are learning. Come expecting work in dyads and small groups. 
You are welcome to bring food & to mindfully eat it in our training room during breaks. 
Lunch is 60 minutes long & there is a scheduled break in the morning & afternoon. 

Commit to Respect Yourself, The Practice, and Your Cohort

 I commit to doing my best to create the conditions for mutual trust, respect, and kindness in our trainings. Our yoga ethics are rooted in the commitment to refrain from causing harm, and your participation can be suspended or postponed for behavior that violates this precept or disrupts our ability to learn.
